Cuatro in Cabo | Matt’s Smut Vault

It’s Smut Vault time once again, and this week we’re looking to kick it up a notch! I’m picturing an abundance of margaritas, some breathtaking sunsets and a whole lot of bad decisions. Erotica under appreciates fancy or special locations in my opinion, as they typically decide to stick to the side of relatability. All things being equal, it’s nice to kick back in an exotic location and see what can happen when all parties involved are primed to check their inhibitions at the door. We’ve got our limes sliced, glasses frosted, rims salted… all ready for your tongue (oh my god, please forgive us). Pull out your favorite beach chair and join us in paradise.

Cuatro in Cabo: Table for Four by Syrette Fox is not a direct sequel, but is a continuation of her Menage Misadventures series. We’ve discussed MMF and FFM stories by this same author, but for this go ‘round we’re given the privilege of adding an extra letter to the equation. Quinn and Holt have been married for years, but things are getting stale, tired, and the dreaded D word is slowly creeping into the picture. As a last ditch effort, the pair are vacationing in Cabo to either patch things up or make some final memories as their marriage is decaying away before their eyes. Thousands of miles away from home and attempting to get away from it all…and wouldn’t you know it but their neighbors from a few houses down the street back home are also here in Cabo as well? Marianne and Sam are slightly older, but stunningly beautiful, which is magnified by their confidence and swagger. Through the haze of tequila and general good tidings, Quinn and Holt let down their guard and get a little more chummy than expected with the older couple. It’s a good thing Marianne and Sam have a hot tub room… because things are about to get more interesting.

On paper, things in Cuatro in Cabo set up like a run-of-the-mill porno vid. Rather than try to avoid it, the author steers into the skid and gives us a wild sexual experience at the earliest reasonable opportunity. Further separation from the adult movie bin comes from the unique and well thought out dialogue. Syrette Fox’s greatest strength as a writer comes from using words that you don’t normally see in erotic fiction. It’s an approach that will satisfy most every reader so long as you can easily offer forgiveness where words out of your comfort zone cross the pages. While a penis “jutting proudly out of a nest of golden brown curls” might work for some, a woman’s “creamy, clutching cunt” might not for others. Each unique line is a calculated risk, and it’s exciting to be challenged which each turn of the page.

Sam and Marianne are experienced at the wife swapping game, and are quickly bringing Quinn and Holt into the fold. In the real world, an encounter like this probably should’ve been planned out a little more, but there was a level of trust between the four that was refreshing to see. There’s more than just fucking a new partner going on here, as this experience brings out a bevy of emotions in the couples. A FFMM is probably not something I’m ever going to experience personally, so I don’t know if new sex can truly save a marriage outside of the context of a story. However, the conclusions of the story feel realistic and a bit more layered than the prototypical “good sex=saved marriage” formula that’s so tempting to use as a resolution in this genre.

Verdict: Cuatro in Cabo by Syrette Fox is a steaming hunk of erotic fiction that makes good use of setting and characters to produce an unforgettable FFMM sexual experience. With the author’s patented exploratory word choices and fearless attempts at relationship styles (including a very earnest Male/Male scene that was completely unexpected) Cabo expands her previous work in multiple partner experiences to an even greater potential. The only downside to having read this is that we now have the long hard arduous waiting game until Fox’s next tantalizing offering. We can’t wait.

Special thanks to Syrette Fox for providing a copy of Cuatro in Cabo to TehBen.com for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
