In the Electric Closet | Matt’s Smut Vault

For this week’s Smut Vault review we continue our visit to the MyErotica pages of the genre’s best soon to be published erotic writers. Like a baseball scout heading down south to check out the prospects in the Minor Leagues, the boys at the Vault are looking for some untapped talent that we think should be on your ebook or even your book shelf in the not-too-distant future. We’ve got our scorebooks, our radar guns, and we’re ready to send our report to the front office staff back in the big city. Play ball!

In the Electric Closet by “The Voice of Erotica™️” the pen name of the MyErotica author that submitted the piece, is a two-part saga into the mind of the author herself. Most interesting aspect to note right off the bat, this story is written in 2nd person. The person narrating, Jen, is recounting an experience that she’s had with…well US, the reader. You can almost hear the strike of a match across a rough surface as Jen lights herself a cigarette to relive that special night at the local town’s hottest club. There’s clearly been a time skip between that night of passion and today, as Jen walks us back to a more simple time when we were the best lighting designer in town, and she was the girl we were fortunate enough to take to the electric closet for some extracurricular fun. Jen’s life is a little more stuffy now, and she’s writing to us possibly in an attempt to feel young again. We had to have her, and she had to have us. Just as she explains: she’s sitting in a steel chair, we find the nearest extension cord and well….we make it an unforgettable night.

It should go without saying that this unique narrative adds an extra thick coating of spice to our reading. It’s like we received a letter in the mail years later from our most memorable fling, and we’re immediately taken back in time to feel that moment all over again. The sexual energy is not only tangible, but is also challenging to what might be considered reasonable in a traditional erotica. This is magnified by the author’s word choice, which can be rough and lacking the subtle edge…but ends up adding even more to the realism of an old lover pouring themselves out to us. At times it’s like living a sex based RPG without the dialogue options, but for the male fantasy promoted by the author, we’re absolutely sold on the concept.

Part II of the story flips the script and retells the next encounter with a little different technique. While we were informed of our domination of Jen in Part I, this time around we’re the ones in the chair taking instructions so to speak. Being the submissive as a second person story subject actually makes a little more sense. Jen is now telling us what to do, rather than us magically conjuring the solutions out of thin air while completely running the show in Part I. In the brief time between writing these stories, there’s already a visibly clear improvement in writing style. Part II even includes flavor text about music trivia from around the era this sexual rendezvous would have taken place. This makes the scene come still more alive to those horny Generation Xers who were so busy fornicating in rock clubs and not voting in general elections to make their appropriate mark on society.

Verdict: In the Electric Closet by The Voice of Erotica™️ drops the fucking hammer with an intense, in-your-face erotica with a POV not common to the mainstream market. Rough around the edges with a lexicon that would make the boys down at the local porn shop blush, this pair of soul-surfing exploits hits you hard and never lets you peel yourself off the canvas. If you can accept a story written by the author’s own admission to the sexual aid of straight men with nearly no compromise, give this dual pack of stories a shot. If the author’s quality continues to improve and the stories develop in intensity alongside…may God have mercy on us all, we’re in for a bumpy ride!
