David Starr Joins New Look Our Motorsports at Daytona

With Daytona literally around the corner to kick off the official 2023 NASCAR racing calendar, the Xfinity series is putting the finishing touches on a busy and productive silly season. One team thought to be out in the cold from the busy off season was Our Motorsports, who up until now had remained radio silent on their 2023 plans.

Despite a rocky off season and much uncertainty from the North Carolina stable, Our Motorsports has announced a deal with veteran NASCAR driver David Starr to run the number 02 Chevrolet for select races, starting with the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway in the Beef! It’s What’s for Dinner 300 on February 18th.

“After 25 years in the sport, I am so honored to still get the opportunity to run in one of NASCAR’s top series. Since I was a young boy, this has been a dream of mine and it is awesome to still be living out this dream,” states David Starr in a press release from Our Motorsports.

The David Starr piloted 02 will be sponsored at Daytona by long time Starr partners Bret Baier and his “Special Report” television program on Fox News as well as Boulevard, a tech-enabled mentor system.

While David Starr will run a partial schedule for Our Motorsports, the 02 car is expected to run the full 2023 Xfinity Series calendar. Alongside, plans are forming for a part time schedule 23 car, with the driver lineups and specific schedules to be released at a later date. The team will continue to run Chevrolets with SHR and RCR Chassis and engines provided by ECR Engines. The 02 car is expected to use the owner points from the 17th place finishing 23 car from the 2022 season.

Despite a complete driver roster shakeup and administrative changes to the Our team, the plucky Welcome, NC operation doesn’t appear to be throwing in the towel any time soon.

Everybody thought we were out. We are not by any means. Now, we are going to show up to Daytona ready to win and every week thereafter.
